A Hopeful New Year

2020 was interesting to say the least.

Doesn’t it feel good to see the word “was” in that sentence?

No matter how mindful you are, no matter how good at ‘staying in the moment’, no matter how much awareness you have around your emotional world, it has surely been a tough one.

So let’s hold on to what we’ve got…

We have hope: hope that the next year will bring an end to these crazy times.

We may not have control over the circumstances that happen around us, but we do have control over our attitude.

We also know that it’s OK to not be OK. Sometimes it all just gets too much and we need to let off steam… either a rant, or a big swear, or a childish sulk. That’s OK. We are humans caught in some incredibly un-human times.

But most of all we have life. No matter how difficult it is, we get another chance today to make a little more sense out of this crazy, mysterious thing called life. We get to question things. We get to explore. We get to not know what we’re doing, or why.

That’s the beauty that comes from awareness.

When we realise that nobody knows what they’re doing we can forgive others, and forgive ourselves.

Here’s to a happy, successful, prosperous or at least intriguing 2021…
